Our cycling adventure begins in Grožnjan, a charming hilltop town known for its cobbled streets, stone houses, and vibrant community of artists. From here, we connect to the historic Parenzana trail, once a railway line that linked Trieste and Poreč. Entering through a restored stone tunnel, we begin a gentle descent through Istria’s rolling hills, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, and scattered rural villages.

As we reach the Mirna Valley, the trail leads us to Livade, a small village celebrated as the world’s truffle capital. These rare underground fungi are famous for their intense aroma and earthy flavor, and the surrounding forests are rich with them — carefully foraged by locals using trained dogs.

Crossing the Mirna River, we begin our final climb to Motovun, a medieval hilltop town offering sweeping 360° views of the valley below. There, the journey ends with a traditional Istrian lunch, rich in local flavors and a perfect reward for the day’s ride.
